Merritt D. Betts Library
The mission of the Merritt D. Betts Library System is to support scholarship and education by providing outstanding and innovative information services and resources to the students, faculty, and the research community.
Betts Library opened to students on February 1, 2012. The Library is 10,000 square feet that welcomes students, faculty and walk-in patrons. As a fully functioning library, student workers are employed to assist in daily operations. Students Assistants (SA’s), as referred to by Executive Director Ms. Faye M. Davis, work with students to check out books, find books in the OPAC, receive computer credentials to use the library and lab computers across campus, Moodle log-in assistance, email assistance, and if you need to find an article in the databases our SA’s help with that too! Oh, if you need books vacuumed – our SA’s will be able to show you how to properly vacuum books!
Betts is an open floor plan – which allows students and faculty to gather at group study tables, study carrels or the leather sofas! There are fourteen computers available from open to close. For those with laptops, tablets or smartphones there is a wireless network available too! We are working on implementing wireless printing in the library only – you do not want to print to someone’s work computer and not be able to find your print job!
The library provides access for all Bacone Students and Faculty to online, full- text databases. Log-in credentials may be needed to access articles in several databases. Sign into Moodle for the log-in credentials, open the Library-Online link and scroll down to Topic 8 for the Database Log-in Sheet – that has your log-in credentials. Whenever you select a link “view online” and it asks for the password – select same name database from the database log-in sheet. Do not use your normal user name or email combination for logging into the databases – it will not work!!! You may copy and paste the Database Log-in Sheet to your desktop for future use! Any questions, please email [email protected] and we will respond within 24 hours (excluding weekends!) Of course, you could stop by the library for personal assistance – during normal hours of operation!
