POSITION DESCRIPTION
Student Accounts/Collections Representative
General Statement of Duties: The Student Accounts/Collections Representative is responsible for the timely collection of student accounts receivable.
Supervision: Reports to the Chief Operations Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews for delinquent account records to determine which students must be contacted to collect overdue accounts.
- Organizes collection workload according to degree and amount of delinquency.
- Communicates with faculty and coaches for their aid in contacting students.
- Calls or texts students about delinquent accounts.
- Verifies the accuracy of accounts.
- Checks the status of awards with the Financial Aid Department.
- Checks with Registrar’s office enrollment status.
- Counsel students on resolving problems with their accounts.
- Writes letters or approves form letters for use in collection attempts.
- Prepares a status report weekly to keep the supervisor updated on collection activities.
- Authorizes or refers accounts to a Collection Agency for legal actions against debtors after the end of the school year.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills.
- A basic understanding of Financial Aid procedures.
- Experience in working with students.
- Good phone and communication skills.
- Basic math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division & percentages.
- Computer programs – CAMS, Word, Outlook
Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree desired, or an equivalent of skills and experience in the field of collections.
