Department of Public Safety
The primary purpose of Bacone's Department of Public Safety
is the protection and safety of persons and property on campus.
The Public Safety Department's 24-hour emergency number is
918-781-7200 and is answered at our 24-hour dispatch center
located at the Bacone Inn and Conference Center. The Department
has three divisions:
- Security - Armed Deputies from the
Muskogee County Sheriff's Department provide security services.
- Students On Patrol (STOPS) - Interns from our Criminal
Justice Degree Program provide courtesy patrol services.
- Emergency Services - Trained CERT volunteers providing communication,
traffic, and emergency service in cooperation with Muskogee
County Emergency Management.
A Public Safety Task Force, comprised of Special Assistant to
the President for Operations, Mr. Michael Chiesa, Dr. D. Bruns,
and President Duncan has met regularly to insure that Bacone's
security and emergency planning is updated and responsive to
current concerns.
Dr. Duncan has over 25 years of emergency management experience
including terms as Fire Chief, FEMA Consultant, and National
Red Cross Disaster Consultant. He has assumed the responsibility
of Director of Public Safety, Mr. Chiesa serves as Assistant
Director.
