With Honors
June 14, 2012
For many college goers, the end of the school year means a panicked finals week and a much-needed break, but some students (and professors) had a little more in store for them.
During the April 24, 2012 ceremony held in Bacone Memorial Chapel, the school recognized outstanding efforts with a variety of awards for students and faculty.
Bacone Associate Professor of Accounting Bruce McDaniel earned the Walter Richard West Award, which recognizes demonstration of “innovative teaching ability and significant contributions to the motivation and success of his/her students,” according to the honor’s description.
Director of Art Tony Tiger received the Jack Kilpatrick Award for Creativity in honor of “excellence in professional creativity,” named for Bacone alumnus Dr. Jack Frederick Kilpatrick.
Following in his colleagues’ footsteps, Associate Professor of Business McRee Smith earned the Bacone Teacher of the Year award, which rewards “all around excellence.”
Of course, the school dedicated most of the ceremony to its recognized students: Director of the Art Program, Tony Tiger awarded Kyla Moore the honor of Outstanding Student in Art, while graduates Milissa Echols and Dyllan Snavelly both received the title of Outstanding Accounting Students.
Director of Sonography Cindy Rich bestowed Tonya Aultman the Director’s Award for High Academic Achievement and Dedicated Service to the Department of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Radiography Director Shawn Dixon honored Addison Horton with the Mallinckrodt Award of Excellence, which recognizes “exceptional performance by a radiologic student throughout their two-year enrollment,” according to Mallinckrodt Medical’s website.
Dixon also gave the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology Award to Jamie Holder.
Haley Henry earned the Earl Riley Scholarship Award, while Damon Briggs won the Genevieve Getz Scholarship Award from Student Support Services.
Finally, President Rev. Dr. Robert J. Duncan, Jr. honored Jeanine White and Dustin Cozad with Outstanding Graduate awards.

In addition to the above awards, the following students were recognized by the national office of WHO’S WHO AMONG STUDENTS IN AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES for having cumulative GPAs of 3.50 or higher. The students will be named in the office’s 2012 directory.
