John Winters, Ph.D.

 Dr. Winters earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) from Phillips University in 1978, a Master of Education in Secondary Physical Education from Colorado State University in 1979, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Health, Leisure and Human Performance from Oklahoma State University in 2010.

Prior to coming to Bacone, Winters served as a coordinator of Academic Services for Tuskegee University Athletics, Dean for Arts and Sciences at Western Oklahoma State College along with various student affairs and educational support positions at Langston University, Oklahoma State University, the University of North Texas, and Texas Tech University, and NEO A&M College as well as a high school teacher over the past 37 years. Winters also currently serves as a research professional and Hall of Fame voter with the National College Baseball Foundation and Hall of Fame and a member of the Legends and Pioneers of Black College Baseball Selection Committee.
