CCR - Walter Starr
In 1923, the Walter Starr boy’s dormitory was constructed with funds donated by Creek Indian Walter Starr, a former Bacone student. This facility currently houses Admissions, Financial Aid, the Bacone Advising Center, the Division of Adult Education, and the Registrar’s office.
Converting this facility back to it’s original intent, a dormitory, will provide housing for the students in the Christian Ministry programs and would bring our residential capacity to 600.

A Letter From One of Our Students
Hi, I’m Colin Tsoodle a Sophomore student at Bacone College. I am proud to be a member of a church that is part of the Oklahoma Indian American Baptist Association. Our church and our association are affili- ated with the Native American Caucus of the American Baptist Churches, USA.
I am also proud to be the first member of the new Christian Ministry Learning Work Community (CMLWC) at Bacone College.
I am looking forward to having a new home in the renovated Walter Starr Hall in the Fall of 2012, along with other member of the Christian Ministry Learning Work Community. As members of American Baptist Churches across the US, we will bring a very visible American Baptist presence on the campus. Living in Walter Starr Hall, we will be one of the first buildings people see on our campus. Along with the students in Poloke Hall, who make up the American Indian Learning Work Community, we will make a real statement about who Bacone is.
Thank you in advance for the gifts you will give to provide me and the other CMLWC students a place to call our own. I’m looking forward to calling Walter Starr home.
Jesus said that the fields are ‘white unto the harvest.’ If that was true in his day, think how much more it is true with nearly 7 billion people on the face of the earth. Bacone College is all about the harvest.
In our commitment to the harvest, Bacone will provide a home for the Christian Ministry Learning Work Community in the fall of 2012.
Your gifts to the “VISON 2020” Program will make it possible to provide a dormitory for the students in the Christian Ministry Learning Work Community in the fall of 2012 in Walter Starr Hall. Walter Starr Hall has served as office space for Admissions, Financial Aid, the Advising Cen- ter, and the Registrars’ Office for several years. In the summer of 2012, those offices will move to the new Welcome Center in the Bacone Commons. This will open up Walter Starr to become the home of the Christian Ministry Learning Work Community students.
Your gifts to the “VISION 2020” Program will make it possible to renovate Walter Starr Hall back to its original purpose as a dorm. It will become the home of the new Christian Ministry Learn- ing Work Community. The Christian Ministry Learning Work Community will be made up of children of American Baptist staff persons and members of ABC caucus churches who will receive full 100% of tuition, room and board scholarships in the fall of 2012.
Your gifts to the “VISION 2020” Program will change these students’ lives by providing them a place to live and serve.
