American Indian Summer Bridge

About

The American Indian Recruitment (AIR) Summer Bridge is a two-week residential/commuter Student Leadership Program designed to immerse incoming American Indian freshmen students into the rigors of academic life and facilitate the academic, social and cultural transition from high school to college preparing them for their first-year experience at Bacone College.

Students are provided with an opportunity to experience the Bacone College environment prior to entering the fall semester, and are also introduced to an extensive academic support system at Bacone. The program allows students to build a strong sense of belonging and connectedness to Bacone and the campus community, and in particular American Indian students, faculty and staff.

Students in AIR Summer Bridge have the opportunity to earn up to three (3) credit hours. Students participate in an American Indian Studies Student Leadership course in the mornings and Cultural Leadership and Experiential Learning sessions in the afternoons. In addition, evenings will be spent with guest presenters, participating in enrichment activities, seminars in study skills, time management, and other topics related to American Indian student success which complement the Student Leadership Program.
