The Muskogee Regional Medical Center and Bacone College have begun a new partnership beginning January 1, 2009. This partnership is the first of its kind in Oklahoma. The partnership is designed to close the gap between the transitions from nursing school to working as a nurse in the hospital.

Students are more prepared and less apprehensive when they begin to care for patients. In addition to the relationship between the two entities, the Billie R. Tower Nursing Program at Bacone College has created 20 full scholarships for nursing students.

The nursing students receiving the scholarship will be required to commit to working at MRMC six months for each semester that they receive the scholarship.

Health Science Programs

Nursing

Bacone College is proud to offer two programs of nursing. The Association of Applied Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) and an accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree program in Nursing (BSN). The ADN program has two tracks to choose from when considering your degree in nursing:

  1. A two-year associates degree track
  2. LPN to RN (Career Advancement for Practical Nurses {CAPN}) track

Radiography

The Radiography program is an exciting and dynamic field of medical imaging. Radiographers use radiation generating machines and associated equipment to produce images of internal body structure/organs. These images contain vital information needed by the physician for proper patient diagnosis.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

The Medical Sonography program is an allied health profession that utilizes computerized medical equipments to generate high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) for diagnostic medical imaging. The Sonographer uses an instrument called a transducer to generate and transmit an incident ultrasound beam to body organs under study. The reflected ultrasound wave (echo) is intercepted by the transducer and converted back into electrical/analog signal. This signal is then digitized and fed to the system computer, which reconstructs and generates images needed for diagnosis.

Medical Imaging

Our baccalaureate degree in Medical Imaging is a non-clinical-based, degree-completion program, designed for credentialed, practicing, medical imaging professionals. The program combines on-line with limited traditional classroom delivery methods. This combination offers the flexibility needed by practicing professionals to expand their educational horizon.

Cardiovascular Technology

This degree program is designed to train technicians to perform diagnostic procedures that yield crucial information, which enable Cardiologists to evaluate and treat cardiac diseases. The primary objective of the Cardiovascular Technology Program is to provide students with factual and practical foundations in cardiovascular medicine and technology so they may effectively perform non-invasive procedures under minimal supervision.
